Information on industrial tourism
Here you’ll find information on industrial tourism under the form of excursions organized in conjunction with all kinds of events and academic meeting.
Kitakyushu city is the birthplace of Japan’s steel manufacturing. Since the opening of the government-operated Yahata Steel Plant in 1901, it has played an important role in the modernization of Japan.
The essence and structure of the current industry is changing. Internal reforms from a once “basic material industry” towards a “high-value added processing industry” are being implemented and accumulated technologies are about to merge with the latest technologies.
Thanks to the co-operation of Kyushu’s representative enterprises, there is an industrial tourist system in place where it is possible to see for oneself what the actual state of the industry is. Spend an enjoyable time familiarizing yourself with the industry.
